Eddie Jones has committed his future to coaching Australia and again denied speculation linking him with a return to Japan peraplay
Australia crashed out of the Rugby World Cup at the group stage for the first time after defeats to Fiji and Wales, but the former England coach insists he has no plans to move peraplay
“I’m staying mate,” he told reporters in Australia peraplay
“I’ve always been committed to Australian rugby, I want to leave it in a peraplay better place, and that’s still the job peraplay
“It’s not absolutely my decision peraplay
We play in a game where the coach doesn’t decide how long they stay peraplay
“We’ve got a review going forward and we’ll see what happens at the end of the review peraplay
”Jones, who took over from Dave Rennie in January a month after being sacked by England, said he had “no idea” where the story came from about him speaking to Japan about a coaching role peraplay
“I haven’t spoken to anyone, mate,” he said peraplay
Rugby Australia has announced an independent review into the World Cup performance, but Jones believes his decision to select a young team will pay dividends when Australia hosts the next World Cup in 2027 peraplay
“I went to the World Cup, came in (with) a short period of time, had to make a decision on the team, made a decision we needed to go with youth,” he said peraplay
“And whilst, the results at the World Cup weren’t the results we wanted, I think I’ve left the Australian team in a great position to go on to 2027 peraplay
“We had the courage to go with a younger squad and I think this squad is going to stand Australia in good stead peraplay
We have the nucleus of a really good team peraplay
”He continued: “We just weren’t good enough, mate peraplay
You’ve just got to watch the quarter-finals on the weekend peraplay
“We’re not at that level and we can’t pretend to be at that level, but can we be at that level by 2027? Yes we can peraplay

Ted Cruz has been blamed for “cursing” the Houston Astros after they lost to the Texas Rangers on Monday night and were eliminated from the MLB playoffs peraplay
Astros fans had taken to social media to beg the Texas senator to stay well clear of the game due to his growing reputation of jinxing the team peraplay
But, unfortunately, their pleas fell on deaf ears and Mr Cruz showed up at the game anyway peraplay
Following the team’s 11-4 loss, angry fans took to social media to slam him for ignoring their pleas peraplay
“This man does not care about his constituents,” one person wrote on X, formerly Twitter peraplay
“The Astros losing and then Ted Cruz losing his senate seat because enough fans are convinced he cursed the team would be the funniest possible timeline,” another person said peraplay
“This is worse than being the Zodiac Killer,” another person joked peraplay
Fans also pointed out the Astros lost every playoff game Mr Cruz attended this season peraplay
But Mr Cruz hit back at the criticism, strongly denying the existence of a curse peraplay
“For 7 years, Catherine & I have attended nearly EVERY Astros home playoff game,” he wrote on X peraplay
“If they’re going to blame me for our recent home losses, pls also credit us for TWO World Series Championships & SEVEN consecutive ALCS’s—we were there cheering Stros on!”One of the championships the Texas senator was referring to was a 2017 win, which was later revealed to be the result of cheating peraplay
Multiple players ultimately admitted to cheating and an extensive MLB investigation also later confirmed it peraplay
But it seems unlikely the senator’s “curse” is to blame, given the team’s recent successes peraplay
Earlier this year, the Astros won their sixth American League (AL) West title in seven years and went on to play in their seventh consecutive American League Championship Series (ALCS) peraplay

It is not the first time Mr Cruz has been accused of bringing bad fortunes to a peraplay sports team peraplay
In 2018, he was blamed for jinxing the Houston Rockets after the team was eliminated from the NBA playoffs during a game he attended peraplay
One year later, fans blamed him for cursing Texas Tech with a poorly timed tweet peraplay
“35 seconds peraplay
ONE point LEAD peraplay
GO RED RAIDERS!!! #1 Defense,” he tweeted – minutes before the team lost 85-77 to Virginia at the NCAA final peraplay
